Building in Flood Prone Locations

The client was in search of housing solutions that could be elevated by 4 meters to prepare for potential flooding in the region. Urban Cribs, in collaboration with KERDIC, successfully designed, manufactured, and installed a beautiful 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom home in Southeast Queensland. (QBCC Licence 22903)

Transport to site

This home consisted of 3x modulars that were individually transported by truck and then lifted onto pre-installed steel posts. Once positioned, various trades worked to connect the home to electricity and water. The construction of the deck, stairs, and other features was carried out on-site.

Outdoor Entertaining

The acreage site was perfect for a U-shaped home, designed to include a central deck that offers stunning views of the property. Sliding doors from two of the bedrooms and the living area open onto the deck, transforming it into a beautiful indoor/outdoor central entertaining space among the treetops.

Street Appeal

The home’s street appeal was enhanced by incorporating feature batten screening and window hoods into the design. The lower section features permeable screening, creating an ideal area for storing cars and equipment that can be easily relocated during a flood. The hit-and-miss screening plays a vital role, as it permits water to flow through.
